Instructions
Step 1: Cook the Macaroni
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the elbow macaroni and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Step 2: Prepare the Cheese Sauce
- In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk continuously for about 1 minute to create a roux (this helps thicken the sauce).
- Slowly pour in the milk while continuing to whisk, preventing lumps from forming. Cook the mixture, stirring constantly, until it starts to thicken (about 5 minutes).
- Reduce the heat to low, and add the shredded cheddar, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese to the milk mixture. Stir until the cheese is fully melted and the sauce is creamy.
- Add salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika to the sauce, adjusting seasoning to taste. Remove from heat.
Step 3: Season and Cook the Shrimp
- In a mixing bowl, toss the shrimp with olive oil, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper.
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until they turn pink and are cooked through. Set aside.
